This paper assesses the outcome of the Agenda 2030 absorption by the Brazilian Judiciary. Departing from the theoretical formulations of the New Institutional Economy about the importance of the legal system and institutions to the economic development, the paper adopts the law & development approach to gage the contribution of the Judiciary to the development. Many research and debates on the absorption of the sustainable development goals (SDGs), as well as the integration of such goals and the construction of indicators by the Brazilian Judiciary have been carried out since the National Council of Justice issued the Ordinance 133 in 2018. Besides rekindling the discussions on law & development, this paper analyses the compatibility between SDGs and the Brazilian Constitution, especially from the role played by the Brazilian Judiciary and from which initiatives can contribute to increase the efficiency of the judicial provision. The methodology employed is the bibliographic review and data collection on the main initiatives resulting from the Agenda 2030 absorption by the Brazilian Judiciary.
